It was a real privelege to be Jenni and Alex’s St Giles House wedding photographer, as I just adore this place. It was amazing to be back at another sublime St Giles House wedding, as I have wanted to be back here for a while, and when Jenni and Alex told me of their plans to get married close by in the beautiful village of Wimborne St Giles, I just had to agree to be their St Giles House wedding photographer! Nestled deep in the Dorset countryside, St Giles House is a truly incredible place, the ancestral home of the Earl of Shaftesbury which has been lovingly restored back to it’s former glory.

To step in to the grounds of St Giles House, and explore the building is to step back in time – partially derelict until a few years ago, rather than rebuilding, every detail has been painstakingly restored, including the original paint and wallpaper, revealing gorgeous warm tones, and history wherever you look – it is a photographers paradise. The light is incredible, and I love this place, only a stones throw from my own home.

Steeped in history

As a well-known DJ formerly based in new York, the Earl has turned the cellar below St Giles House into an incredible undergound nightclub, which as to be seen to be believed, a completely unique party venue. Yet venture upstairs, and you would never know it was there.

Jenni and Alex’s day was relaxed and focused on family, and it was lovely that the whole wedding party walked to Wimborne St Giles church just in the grounds, so the day was much more enjoyable rather than having to travel, with more time to relax, and enjoy.

The day finished late with some portraits of Jenni and Alex and the infamous statue of Eros which takes pride of place outside the house, this statue was made in conjunction with the one at Piccadilly Circus, which of course sits at the ehad of Shaftesbury Avenue, named after the Earl, and it is said that the arrows of each point to each other. The history of this stunning venue is amazing when you delve a little deeper!

As always, I’ll let the photos tell the story!
