Smedmore House is a simply stunning location for a wedding, perched above the sea near Kimmeridge, on the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset. It is hard to decide whwere to begin describing Smedmore, with it;s incredible blue room for bridal preparations, the sweeping staircase, the beautifully panelled library, the glade between the trees for an outdoor ceremony with a view of the sea between the trees, and the huge lawn which is the perfect location for a marquee.

With the gorgeous Kimmeridge Bay only a 5 minute drive away, it really is worth taking a trip down there as a couple in the evening for some relaxed photos, it is always so peaceful, and feels like your own private beach on your wedding day, with a view actoss to the Worbarrow cliffs form under Clavells Tower well worth the effort.

The house is full of period character, and a dream to photograph, with beautiful pools of light in between centuries of antiques, and full length shutters allowing control of the light. Having full use of the house for the weekend is a fantastic day of making the most of the venue, and allowing the family some luxury for the weekend, a fabulous idea.

As always, I’ll let the pictures tell the story! If you are getting married at Smedmore House and looking for a wedding photographer please get in touch, I’d love to hear your story!
