Mapperton House, a true jewel in the Dorset countryside, and perhaps the finest manor house there is for a wedding venue.  As a Dorset based wedding photographer, I have been wanting to photograph a wedding here for years, and Kirsty and Alex’s story, with their 3 Dalmatians joinging the wedding celebrations, was one I had to wait that little bit extra for due to Covid, but it was worth the wait. The barn is beautiful and cosy, the croquet lawn is vast, and the star of the show is perhaps the Orangery, and with grottoes galore, and paths that lead down the Dorset combe valley through the Italianate gardens, past ponds and the swimming pool. As a wedding venue this provides some incredible locations for beautiful photographs, whatever the Dorset weather may send your way.

 Mapperton House

Situated in the rolling Dorset hills between Bridport and Beaminster, Mapperton house dates back to the 11th Century, and is now the seat of the Earl of Sandwich. It may be familiar to some, having appeared in the film adaptation of Thomas Hardy’s ‘Far From the Madding Crowd’, starring Carey Mulligan, which was filmed at Mapperton. Country Living also deemed it to be the nations finest manor house, and it was also awarded the 2020 Historic House of the Year award.
