I absolutely adore Magdalen College Oxford, it is always a pleasure to photograph here, with it’s beautiful pools of light, and proud history around very corner. When Tim and James told me about their plan to get married at Magdalen College and asked me to be their wedding photographer, I just had to say yes.
There is something magical about Oxford, and the university college’s which define the city, and one thing that was very important to Tim and James was capturing the very essence of the place where they met, lived, and learned for many years. Wandering around and capturing the subtle details in the architecture was a real joy.
Tim and James got ready at Brasenose college, before heading to the University Church of St Mary, for a magnificent service of Mass, followed by a walk back to Magdalen past all of the landmarks of Oxford. I love it when the whole wedding party walks to the venue, it is much more of a shared experience than driving there seperately.
I loved the colours chosen by Tim and James, Lemon and Lime – a theme which suited them perfectly, as well as being their favourite colours, it was also the fact that they are complementary citrus fruit, and a perfect reflection of their zesty personalities. The styling was all carefully managed by themselves, and beautiful throughout the day, a true homespun wedding where everything had a meaning. Tim and James’ groomswomen wore green or yellow, looking spectacular and vibrant, and the close friendship and support they have provided to Tim and James was evident through the day.
I felt truly humbled to have been allowed to grace the corridors and halls of Magdalen College, and capture Tim and James’ heartwarming story.
As ever, I’ll let the photos tell the story!
