DORSET
From chalk cliffs by the sea, rolling countryside and meadows, to deep mystical ancient woodlands.

Sentinels II, Moor Crichel
Close to home, I love this Beech avenue as it changes through the season. Here the low autumn sun creates some beautiful tall shadows as it filters through the trees.

Corfe castle at Sunrise
An iconic view, but one that isn't that easy to capture, as conditions have to be just perfect. Like many iconic views, just because they have been photographed before, doesn't mean you shouldn't create your own interpretation, and watching the mist swirl around the towers is rather magical.

Durdle Door - Night of Heritage Light
Back in 2015, Durdle Door was light up by a local lighting studio as part for nationwide event celebrating our national heritage.

Moor Crichel Avenue in Autumn I
This magnificent avenue in Dorset is actually quite young, I recall it was only a few years ago before the canopy joined together. A magnificent sight in any season.

St Catherine's Chapel and Chesil Beach at Dawn
A classic Dorset view, captured on a cold winter's morning.

The Carpet of Wild Garlic, Dorset
I had been searching for years for a perfect woodland filled with wild garlic, and eventually I found this one, near Dorchester. I wanted to capture it at sunrise, which is rather early in May, to get the beams of light between the trees.
This is one of my favourite images, and perhaps my most widely seen, having won the Food in the Field Category at the 2016 Pink Lady Food Photographer of The Year Awards, and was widely shared in national newspapers, and around the world. There is something about being somewhere so peaceful and solitary, but then the image being seen by many, but in this case I have never shared the location, as I think it deserves to stay pristine and not be trampled, and also there is the reward to researching where it grows, and finding it yourself.

Storm Clouds over the Witchampton Poppy Fields, Dorset II
I had noticed this field of poppies, and was waiting for the perfect evening to capture them at sunset, but I hadn't anticipated the brooding sky tinged with pink and reds, which made the perfect accompaniment.

Kilmington Woods II
The beautiful ethereal Kilmington woods, only weeks before these trees were felled, and the habitat lost forever.

Storm Clouds over the Witchampton Poppy Fields, Dorset IV
I had noticed this field of poppies, and was waiting for the perfect evening to capture them at sunset, but I hadn't anticipated the brooding sky tinged with pink and reds, which made the perfect accompaniment.

Towards the Light
A lone yacht heads out to sea, as shafts of sunlight create spotlights on an otherwise gloomy day.

The Road, Kingston Lacy
Only a stones throw from home, yet not the easiest location to photograph, partly because the road is so long, it is difficult to know where to start on a given day. On this day I wanted a symmetrical view, which was trickier than it might seem, bearing in mind the constant traffic, and a 60mph speed limit. Careful timing was required to hop out, get the shot, then move away quick sharp!

Forked Lightning Oak, Dorset
This long dead and wind dried Oak tree still stands sturdy and strong above the village of Tarrant Monkton in Dorset. It has a striking shape and form, which reminds me of forked lighting, but upside down. Every year the tree remains unchanged, but the crop below always changes, and this year saw a field of Oilseed rape.
I visit this tree regularly, and wanted to capture it in stormy conditions for drama in the sky. I was hoping for some lighting in the distance, but it wasn't to be!
