The Harbour Hotel Group is one of the largest and most excusive hotel groups in the South of England, with Harbour Hotels in Southampton, Christchurch, Salcombe and St Ives, as well as the iconic Jetty restaurant in Christchurch, run by acclaimed Michelin starred chef Alex Aitken. The food served across the Hotels is sublime, and the pinnacle is some of the outstanding seafood served at the Jetty.
The brief for the Jetty and Hotels was clear and simple, with the food being very much the star of the show. Alex didn’t want the distractions of styling elements, this was about giving prospective dibers a clear indication of the impecable quality of the food in the restaurant. I used elements and backgrounds within the restaurants themselves to provide subtle hints of styling, and drawing in the proximity of the sea wherever possible. I applied the same approach for consistency when photographing the food and locations at HarBar Southampton, the Christchurch Harbour and the Kings Arms in Christchurch.
