Hidden away in the beautiful Dorset market town of Wimborne Minster is Deans Court, a sublime wedding venue with so many opportunities for beautiful wedding photography.
When Lucy and William asked me to photograph their wedding at Deans Court I simply had to say yes, not only because it is such a stunning wedding venue, but also because it is only a 5 minute walk from home, and as much as I love to travel, there is something nice about being home in Wimborne too, especially when my wedding photography coverage tends to finish late in the evening, long after the first dance!
Deans Court is still the family home of the Hanham family, a name which is synonymous with the history of Wimborne. The Hanham baronets built Deans Court nearly 500 years ago, and the family have now opened up part of the house and grounds the grounds for weddings, as well as converting the squash court into a superb cafe, and cottages for guests to stay in too.
The library makes a superb location for a drinks reception, and the walls in the house are sublime, all painted in beautiful Farrow and Ball tones (paint which is made in Wimborne as well), which means some beautiful light floats around, with lovely tones and colours as backdrops for the photographs. The gardens are stunning at all times of day, with light bouncing around beautifully, and gorgeously curated gardens providing numerous perfect locations for relaxed portraits, as well as access to a wildflower meadow with views across the River Stour and Wimborne Minster itself, for golden hour sunset portraits.
Lucy and William were married in Wimborne Minster by Lucy’s uncle a local Canon, which made the wedding all the more personal, having seen her grow up. They then walked across the road with the whole wedding party to Deans Court, and were blessed with soft summer sunshine for their wedding day, which was brim full with fun, love and laughter.
